September is nearly over but IFF’s efforts to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month continue! Most notably, Ian Yagoda and his mom, Cheryl, recently attended the signing of the Governor’s Proclamation for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month on September 9th. Ian is seen here with Senator Judson Hill as he reads the proclamation. This was a wonderful opportunity to share information on childhood cancer and pediatric brain tumors including:
- Every day, 9 children are diagnosed with a brain tumor
- Pediatric brain tumors are the 2nd leading cause of death in children
- 1 in 330 children will develop cancer by age 19
- The cure rate for most brain cancers is much worse than for most other types of cancer.
Knowledge of the facts helps promote an understanding of the importance of research to help cure these diseases. IFF works tirelessly to fund pediatric brain tumor research at select research labs across the US.
